Donna

My Father has been in long term care for approx 8 years, and before we moved here 3 1/2 years ago he was just down the street from where we lived so I had easy access to visit him on a very regular basis. He was given the option of moving here with us but as he was very comfortable and happy where he is. Dr  called to tell us that his kidney functions are down to 16% which means he is not creating enough red blood cells and his hemoglobin is very low. They have taken him off all his meds and are just keeping him comfortable at this point. His body is not able to tolerate anything more drastic.

We do not have the financial means to do this. With the limited finances in our home it is just not doable.

My Mother passed Oct 10, 2010 and my promise to her was to continue to look after my Dad. I have been my Dad’s only constant since that point. We had regular phone calls and facetime calls since my husband and I moved here to NB 3 1/2 years ago and when finances were better in our home, I/We flew out as often as possible to visit with Dad. He always perked up and was very happy upon my/our arrival. He does not deserve to be alone at this time and I would very much appreciate being able to spend time with him before he passes.
