Volunteer Grant Writer - US

Objective

To support a compact team of employees and volunteers in conducting research and composing grant applications for the benefit of Give A Mile.

Responsibilities

  • To research and write an average of one grant per month..
  • To collaborate effectively with the team working on grants.
  • To conduct research and align efforts with the mission of Give A Mile.

Required Skills

Preference is given to candidates with grant writing experience, although it’s not a strict requirement. Applicants should possess strong writing and communication skills, vital for crafting compelling grant proposals and effectively conveying the mission of the organization. Additionally, the ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable initiating cold calls and engaging in follow-up communications with potential grant organizations, demonstrating a proactive approach to securing funding.

Moreover, strong organizational skills are essential for managing the various aspects of grant writing, from research and application to tracking deadlines and maintaining correspondence with grant-making entities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is also required, as these tools are frequently used for document preparation and data management, ensuring that proposals are well-organized and supported by accurate information.

Commitment

This role requires a commitment of roughly 5-10 hours per month, which includes attending a bi-monthly meeting to discuss the progress of grant applications and dedicating time to work independently on grant-related tasks.
