Jennifer’s grandmother adopted her when she was very young and provided her with a beautiful upbringing. She has always saw her grandmother, Vicki, as her mother. When Jennifer received word that her mother’s health was failing, she knew she had to be by her side. Unfortunately, being a full-time student, she did not have the funds to fly back home. After a quick internet search, Jennifer discovered Give A Mile and submitted an application.
Jennifer wrote: “Her greatest pleasure is talking on the phone and the times that I get to visit her. She enjoys hearing how my classes are going, as school is extremely important for her… It is because of the values and dedication to hard work that I grew up surrounded by, that I choose psychology as my major. I hope by earning my degree and becoming the first person in my family to do so that I can help, educate, and prove to others that a life outside of jail and addiction is possible. I will do this in honor of my mother. This flight will give me the opportunity to tell her how thankful I am for her and award her the comfort of passing knowing that her daughter is right there.”
After meeting the criteria Jennifer was gifted a flight of compassion with the help of our donors.Jennifer wrote back: “As I get ready to board the plane, all I can think about is how grateful I am for Give a Mile. I wanted to share these photos of my mom on mothers day 2020 when I was able to make a surprise visit home. This is one of the only times i’ve seen her cry! Thank you to Give a Mile for allowing me to see this smile again.”
