We recently had a Give A Mile 2015 planning session, we set some very big targets for this coming year.  Our goal in 2015 is 150 flights, double last year’s success and 3x our 2014 goal.
We can achieve this by our amazing team of volunteers plus our amazing community of support. With our committed group taking on different lead and support roles for raising miles, improving prompt donor engagement, updating the website, creating flight review-and-approval workflows, making things easier for us to get the word out and awarding more flights of compassion across all of Canada.. there are so many things to do. But we’re on it!
You can see that it takes more than just miles to make Give A Mile go.  We are committed to complete financial transparency and the 100% donation model. 150 flights with an average of $120 per flight in taxes means the money required just to pay taxes this year will be $18,000. Sometimes we need to book flights during points-blackout periods (summers, holidays), and in these cases we use money to purchase tickets. On average it costs $40 per 1,000 miles. All these things require money instead of just miles and it very quickly adds up.
