When Bradley learned that his mother was in the hospital with stage 4 cancer and might not have much time left, he knew he needed to get to her as quickly as possible.
The distance between Yellowknife and Victoria was significant, and Bradley felt he could not afford to wait.
In his application, he shared that his mother had always been there for him, no matter the circumstance.
“My mom has never once left my side whenever I needed her.”
He recalled the many times she went out of her way to help him, including getting up early in the morning to pick him up when he was far from home and had no way to get there.
One of his favorite memories was a trip they took together during her cancer treatment.
“She decided to go for a cross country road trip with my brother and myself the first chance she got during her cancer treatment.”
For Bradley, this journey was about being there for the person who had always been there for him.
He wrote:
“I will never forgive myself if I wasn’t by her side if the worst should happen.”
With his mother hospitalized and her condition worsening, Bradley felt there was no time to wait.
“I need to be there for her right away.”
