When Micha-Lynn, known as Mickey to her friends, reached out to Give A Mile, she was out of options—and out of time. Her close friend Michael had just been hospitalized in Windsor with a brain tumor and was scheduled for emergency surgery.
Michael was all alone, and even with her limited income she was determined to be there for him. But she couldn’t afford the flight. “I can’t afford a plane ticket, but I’m gonna be there… I beg you of you.”
That’s when Toronto Pearson Airport stepped in. Because of their support, Mickey made it to Windsor to be there for Michael. He was so happy to see her and was taking his recovery from his emergency surgery one day at a time the last time Mickey updated us. She voiced her gratitude, promising to pay forward the kindness our donors showed her.
Her presence gave Michael strength. Your generosity gave them time. And your compassion brought them both peace in a moment of fear and uncertainty.
