From Fort Myers, FL to Chicago, IL – 67,400 United Points
Stephen’s heart was heavy when he received the news. His father was reaching the end of his journey with cancer and knowing his time was running out, he called Stephen and in a frail voice asked,
“Son, you have to hurry. I’m not going to be alive much longer. Can you come tomorrow?”
Stephen desperately wanted to be there for his dad, but he couldn’t afford it. He had to support his five kids and pay for rent, his car, and school supplies for his children. Despite the challenges, Stephen promised his dad he would do whatever he could to be there.
Fortunately, the Give A Mile community stepped in and helped Stephen secure a flight. He was overjoyed and grateful. This wasn’t just a trip; it was a chance to say goodbye to his dad one last time.
When Stephen arrived in Chicago, he went straight to his dad’s room. They talked about their favorite memories and expressed their love for each other. Stephen felt incredibly lucky to be with his dad during his father’s last days.
