For four days and nights, Maria stayed by José’s side, never leaving, even as the hours grew long and heavy. José wasn’t just a man to Maria, he was a raw diamond: rough around the edges, but with a tough and beautiful essence. For years, he served his community in the Northwest Territories as a mechanic and a good Samaritan, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. José devoted his life to helping others, often putting their needs before his own. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Despite his tough exterior, those who knew José understood his true nature—a man of deep compassion and unwavering commitment to doing good.
When Maria first reached out for help, time was running out. José was in palliative care in Yellowknife, and Maria couldn’t afford to make the trip.
