When Angel learned that her mother had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just six months to a year to live, she knew she wanted one more chance to say goodbye.
Time and distance had kept them apart for many years.
In her application, Angel shared that she had only seen her mother once in the past twenty years.
“I have only seen my mom one time in 20 years when my Uncle Larry paid for me to drive down to see her and my sister.”
Now, with her mother’s illness progressing, this visit meant everything.
“I want to fly down to see my mom to say goodbye.”
The trip would also give Angel the opportunity to reunite with her sister, who would be traveling from Louisiana so they could be together during this difficult time.
Making the journey, however, came with its own challenges.
Angel herself has many health challenges. Despite this, she had been medically cleared to fly so she could be with her mother.
She was also living on a limited income, making the cost of airfare impossible to manage on her own.
Thanks to the generosity of Give A Mile donors, Angel received a compassionate flight to Mississippi, giving her the opportunity to spend precious time with her mother and sister during this important chapter.
