Kenneth applied for a compassionate flight to be with his wife, Nancy, after receiving devastating news about her condition.
Nancy was experiencing kidney and liver failure and was preparing to move into hospice care. Kenneth shared that once she entered hospice, dialysis and other life-sustaining treatments would be stopped, and doctors had told the family she would likely have only a few days remaining.
For Kenneth, getting to her side was urgent.
Living on a pension he explained that rent and food expenses consumed most of his income, leaving him unable to afford the cost of a last-minute flight.
When asked about his relationship with Nancy, Kenneth’s answer was simple but powerful.
“We have been married for almost 40 years and have children together.”
Nearly four decades of marriage represents a lifetime of shared experiences, challenges, and memories. As Nancy’s health declined, Kenneth wanted the opportunity to be with her during this final chapter.
