When Ben received word that his mother, Debbie, had entered hospice care in Ontario, he knew he needed to be there. Time was short, and the distance between Alberta and Ontario felt impossible to bridge on his own.
Ben supports a family of five and could not afford a flight with little notice, but through the kindness of Toronto Pearson Airport, Ben’s flight was approved. Within hours, he was on his way to Cambridge, where he arrived in time to spend precious moments with his mother at the hospice.
The hospice social worker later shared:
“Our resident and her son are both very happy to be together. Thank you for the work you provide.”
For Ben, those days were a gift — a chance to hold his mother’s hand, share memories, and find comfort in being together. It was a moment made possible by the generosity of Toronto Pearson Airport.
