Flight Story #1355
Orlando, Florida > Redmond, Oregon
For Linda, this journey was about returning to the person who had shaped her life in the most loving way. Her Uncle Jack, who stepped into the role of a father after she lost her own dad at a young age, has been receiving hospice care in Oregon. As his health has declined, Linda felt a deep pull to be near him again — to sit with him, share memories, and offer the comfort of family.
In her application, Linda shared how Jack has been her anchor for as long as she can remember. She described him as someone who brought joy, encouragement, and steadiness to her life. Some of her earliest memories are of running beside him during his morning training runs. At five years old, she could go only a short distance before he would lift her onto his shoulders and continue on. Those runs continued as she grew, eventually leading to the day they completed a half-marathon together — a memory she treasures. Jack has always been “her heart and soul,” and knowing that his health was changing made this visit even more important.
Through the compassion of Plusgrade, Linda’s flight was approved. This trip allowed her to fly from Florida to Oregon to be with Jack during a time that holds deep meaning for both of them.
Her Aunt Beth later wrote to Give A Mile to express her gratitude, sharing how important this visit was for their family and how much it meant that Linda could be there. She thanked the team warmly and said the flight “worked out perfectly,” bringing Linda home for a final, precious visit.
We are deeply grateful to Plusgrade. Your kindness continues to carry families home to one another when every moment matters.
