Siranda was adopted as a baby and spent over 20 years not knowing who her biological mother was, much less where she was. Then, through Ancestry DNA, she found her. What followed was the building of a bond that would make up for two decades apart.
Devastatingly, after their reconnection, time began slipping away again. Siranda’s mother, Delise, fell gravely ill and Siranda didn’t know how much time they had left.
Delise shared the following sentiment in her flight application: “We created a relationship from two decades of darkness, not knowing the state of the other. This flight meant the world to me— knowing that in the final moments of my mother’s life she does not have to be alone.
Siranda hadn’t flown for many years, and financial barriers made the trip feel impossible. Thanks to the generosity of Toronto Pearson Airport she was able to be there—to sit beside her mother, to hold her hand, and to make sure she was not alone.
