Flight Story #1354
Atlanta, Georgia > Clarksburg, West Virginia
When Christopher reached out to Give A Mile, he shared something simple and deeply human — he wanted to see his father again while there was still time. His dad, living in West Virginia, was receiving hospice care, and the family had been told that his health was declining quickly. For Christopher, making the trip meant being able to sit with his father, share memories, and say goodbye in person.
Christopher spoke warmly about the life he and his father built together through years of moments — fishing trips, vacations, and days spent outdoors. Those memories shaped him, and he hoped for the chance to thank his father for all of it. It had been a year since they were last together, and the thought of not seeing him again weighed heavily on his heart.
Traveling, however, felt impossible. Christopher lives on a modest income and a plane ticket was far beyond his reach. In his own words, he said he “would desperately like to see him before he dies,” and that this help could be the break he needed during a difficult time.
Thanks to the generosity of Plusgrade, Christopher’s flight was approved. The trip from Atlanta to Clarksburg gave him something priceless — the chance to be by his father’s side, to hold his hand, and to spend time together during his father’s final days.
Christopher later wrote to us, sharing heartfelt gratitude for the chance to make this journey. Being able to see his father again brought comfort and peace to them both, and the time they shared will be held close by their family forever.
Because of Plusgrade Christopher didn’t have to face the regret of a goodbye left unsaid. Your kindness carried him home to a moment that mattered more than words can express.
We are deeply grateful to Plusgrade. Your compassion brings families together when every moment counts.
