A Mother and Daughter’s Flight to Be With Their Son and Brother—Sponsored by Private Donor

Flight Stories #1394 & #1395

Edmonton, Alberta > Vancouver, British Columbia

For Alissa and her mother Julie, this flight meant traveling together to be with their son and brother, Kyle, during a critical time. In their applications, they shared that Kyle’s health has declined significantly and that his care team has indicated time is limited. Being together as a family now felt urgent and deeply important.
Julie shared with us “He is my first born and what I remember the most about him is the day he was born. I was so amazed at what a beautiful round brown baby he was because he is half native I felt truly blessed to have given birth to this beautiful child”
The importance of sharing their love and supporting Kyle at the end of his life is so important for them “We are so very close and love him so much. As his mother I need to be with him to help him get through this and for him to know how much he means to us”
With limited financial flexibility during an already expensive time of year, covering the cost of travel on their own was not possible.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, flights were approved for both Alissa and Julie. After receiving the news, Alissa shared her gratitude, writing:

“You don’t know how much we appreciate that and how much of a relief that is to my mom. My brother says thank you”

Because of Give A Mile donors, a mother and daughter were able to travel together to be with the person they love — offering presence and family support when it matters most.
We are deeply grateful our generous donors for helping families come together during life’s most important moments.

Every donation helps people reach their loved ones for one last hug, smile, and farewell.
