Memories of Brotherly Love – Toyota on the Park

Flight Story #1370

Winnipeg, Manitoba > Calgary, Alberta

For Barry, this trip was more than a flight — it was a chance to stand beside his brother Herbert during a time when family means everything. Herbert is now receiving palliative care and has a limited time left for these important conversations.
Growing up, Herbert played a steady, guiding role in Barry’s life. As the oldest brother, he stepped in when their father wasn’t around and took responsibility for his younger siblings during their teenage years. Barry wrote that they even went on to work in the same field — a bond that became part of the rhythm of their lives.
Now retired and living on a fixed income, Barry described how the rising cost of living and limited pension resources made the trip difficult to afford on his own. He hoped for help so he could be present with Herbert, share time together, and offer support while his brother faces this challenging stage of life.
Thanks to the generosity of Toyota on the Park, Barry’s flight from Winnipeg to Calgary was approved. This journey allows him to sit with his brother, remember the years they shared, and bring comfort simply by being close.
Because of your kindness, Barry is able to be where he’s needed most — beside the brother who once looked after him, and whom he now has the chance to support in return.
We are deeply grateful to Toyota on the Park. Your compassion brings families together when every moment matters.

Every donation helps people reach their loved ones for one last hug, smile, and farewell.
