A Daughter’s Place Is Beside Her Mother — Lexus On The Park

Flight Story #1477

Bagotville, Quebec → Vancouver, British Columbia

Line applied for a compassionate flight to be with her mother, who is living with multiple myeloma. As one of her mother’s caregivers, she knew how important it was to be there during this stage of her mother’s illness.
The distance between them made that difficult.
Only a few months earlier, Line had spent nearly $8,000 to reunite her mother with her children and grandchildren for Christmas. Living away and by herself, that time together was incredibly meaningful, and Line shared that it will probably be their last Christmas together. After that expense, the cost of another cross-country trip created a significant financial burden.
In her application, Line shared the deep sadness she feels knowing her mother no longer has the ability to travel to Quebec to spend her final days surrounded by loved ones.
She wrote:
“Despite all the technologies that allow us to stay in touch daily, there are conversations between a mother and her daughter that need to happen, hand in hand, being able to look into each other’s eyes.”
For Line, being physically present matters. She explained that her mother’s condition is evolving, creating uncertainty about when they may see each other again. With her mother’s recent hospitalization, she felt the need to be by her side as soon as possible.
Her mother had also asked Line to be there with her.
“My mother asked for me to be by her side. I want to be there to help her.”
Thanks to the generosity of Lexus On The Park, Line was able to receive a compassionate flight to Vancouver, giving her the opportunity to be with her mother when she was needed most.
