For Bungo, this flight meant being present for his family during a difficult time. In his application, he shared that his stepfather, Fue, is living with a serious and life-limiting health condition and is receiving palliative care at home.
Bungo explained that his family needs his physical presence to help support his mother and his younger brother. He shared that his mother has taken leave from work to care for his stepfather, and that he has been helping where he can, including supporting his brother’s needs. While he remains flexible with travel dates, affording the cost of travel on his own was not possible.
He described his stepfather as “the backbone of the family” and shared that this trip would help ease some of the pressure his family is experiencing during this time.
Thanks to the generosity of Give A Mile donors, Bungo’s flight was approved. This journey allows him to be with his family and offer support when it is needed most.
