A Daughter’s Flight to Hold Her Mother’s Hand-NAV Canada

Flight Story #1379

Vancouver, British Columbia > Edmonton, Alberta

For Brittany, this flight meant returning to the person who has always been her constant — her mom, Tara. In her application, she shared that her mother has been living with terminal cancer and is now drifting in and out of consciousness. Yesterday, Tara was awake for only an hour, and Brittany was told her time could be as short as “2 days to 2 weeks.”

As a single mother supporting two children on a modest income, taking a week off work and covering last-minute flights felt impossible. “If I could get help with the flight, that would be amazing,” she wrote, explaining that reaching Edmonton quickly was crucial.

She’s the only parent I have left, and I’d like to be with her to say goodbye and hold her hands when she passes.

Brittany described her mother simply and beautifully: “She’s the only parent I have left, and I’d like to be with her to say goodbye and hold her hands when she passes.”

Thanks to NAV Canada, Brittany will be able to make that journey. This flight brings her to her mother’s side during a tender and irreplaceable moment — offering love, presence, and peace when it matters most.
