For Geuvannie, this journey came at a moment when time suddenly felt fragile. His father, Donald is in hospice and his health has been declining quickly.
Growing up, Geuvannie only saw his father for a short visit each year when Donald traveled to the Philippines during the holidays. Even though they lived far apart, the bond between them remained steady. When Geuvannie moved to Oregon as a child, he was grateful for the chance to see his father more often. They filled their time with fishing trips, camping, and long walks with the dogs — small traditions that brought them closer. In his application, Geuvannie shared that his father had always been “a source of unconditional love and support,” no matter the distance.
Now, with his father nearing the end of life, Geuvannie wanted to be by his side to offer comfort and to ease the worries Donald carried. Geuvannie hoped this visit would reassure his dad — to tell him again, in person, that he had been the best father he could have asked for.
The urgency of the situation left little time to plan. But the cost of last-minute international travel was far beyond what he could manage on his single-person income. Hoping for any support possible, he turned to Give A Mile.
Thanks to the generosity of Toyota on the Park, his flight was approved. When he received the news, he sent a heartfelt message:

This flight allowed Geuvannie to reach his father’s bedside — to hold his hand, speak words of comfort, and share the love between them while there was still time.
