Kareem recently flew from Calgary to Victoria to be with his brother Leroy—and with no time to lose. Leroy was on life support, but the time had come where this was no longer an option to maintain his life, and he was at the very end of his journey. The window to say goodbye was painfully small.
For Kareem, this flight was a final act of love, a promise kept. “I want to be there for my brother,” he said. “I’ve stood by him through hard times, through his recovery and rehabilitation. I’m his sponsor. He knows I’ve always had his back.”
When the time came, however, Kareem couldn’t afford the last-minute flight. Supporting a family of three on his salary left no room for unexpected travel. But this wasn’t just any trip—it was a goodbye.
