My name is Josée, I am the social worker with the palliative care unit at the Miramichi Regional Hospital in New-Brunswick. I am writing on the behalf of one of my patients, who is 68 years old and whom has multiple illnesses including, COPD, Diabetes, lung cancer, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure.
The patient was admitted to the hospital on January 22, 2016 with respiratory failure. On January 24, 2016 he was deemed palliative as a result of his comorbidities.
The patient is requesting to see his son before he passes as they have not seen each other since 2010 due to financial strains. Since 2010 they communicate via phone, internet and pictures.
The patient has also mentioned to me that he would also love to meet his son’s partner.
As per the family’s wishes we are requesting the help of the Give a Mile Program to reunite them together.
The family is aware that I am making this request on their behalf and are very hopeful that their wish can be granted and are very grateful for this program to exist and the opportunity it can provide.
Thank you for considering this genuine family with a sincere and beautiful story.
