My name is Josée, I am the social worker with the palliative care unit at the Miramichi Regional Hospital in New-Brunswick. I am writing on the behalf of one of my patients, who was is 59 years old and whom was diagnosed in 2013 with carcinoma of the palate with metastasis to the head and neck.
The patient was admitted to the hospital on November 27, 2015. On January 16, 2016, he was deemed palliative as a result of his long battle with cancer. In 2006 his son moved to Alberta for work. Due to financial strains the patient and his only son have not seen each other since 2008.
As per the patient’s wishes we are requesting the help of the Give a Mile Program to reunite the patient with his son and the son’s partner.
The patient is aware that I am making this request on his behalf and is very hopeful that this wish can be granted. The possibility of a reunion is giving him strength as he copes with end of life decisions and failing health. Thank you for considering this family.
