I always saw strength in my mother. She got up at dawn to work in the rice fields all day alongside my late father. Together, they raised six children who all have their own families now. I am the fourth of six children. My family moved from Manila Philippines to rural Saskatchewan in 2010 and started a new chapter of our lives. Now six years later I still have not visited back home as my children are still going to school and is not financially possible.

My mother’s name is Adelina, she is 72 years old. She is the most patient and kind hearted woman whom I terribly miss. It was more than 11 years ago when I saw her last. She has had a stork. When my mother had a stroke it was eye opening and heart breaking. I realized that my loving mother is not getting any younger. My father passed away in October 2005. Therefor my mother does not have a primary care giver. Thankfully I have sibling that after my mom as she is not able to take care of herself. Now all I want is to be able to spend some time with her in person. I want to reminisce the days when she can walk, cook, eat or even just talk with ease. I am about 7300 miles away from her and I am very grateful for the opportunity of getting help to visit her before its too late. I will be forever in debt for the memories that I will have with my mother and thankful for being able to visit home all because Give A Mile made it possible.
