As a palliative care Social worker I cannot thank you enough for the impact that this program has in the life of my client. When I met Della a few months ago she was in quite a bit of despair – recently having been told that her health status was declining and her life expectancy has been measured in months. Della was devastated. Della’s one goal has been to be alive to see her son graduate high school – and now not being sure that this goal will be met. Recently she was talking to me about her family in the Philippines and how she wishes she could see her mother one last time. It was then that I broached the notion of his valuable and precious program.

Since filling out the application I have observed a sharper edge to Della’s willingness to live. She has enthusiasm in a manner that I have not yet seen. When we met with her children last week for a family meeting they all were hopeful that they would have an opportunity to visit their family particularly because they how much it would mean to their mom.

I am so grateful for this opportunity that Give A Mile provides to my palliative care clients. Such a gift means more than anyone may realize. To see the life in someone eyes when realizing that the dream could come true of seeing relatives that they never thought they would see again in this lifetime is a heart soaring moment like no other.
