A Message From The Flight Hero Sponsor:

During the evening of Tuesday October 9, 2018 I received a message from my brother in Ontario to call back as soon as possible. Preferably sooner then later. I called and was informed that my 39 year old son was involved in a motorcycle accident but was alert, talking, and doing well. Even having his sense of humour. However, they were sending him to London due to the nature of his injuries but not to worry.

I booked my flight to go to Hamilton from Halifax on Friday October 12 for a return on October 15. A family member met me at Hamilton Airport and drove me to the hospital the next day on Saturday October 13 where I found my son, Trevor intubated and in Trauma Critical Care at Victoria Hospital in London Ontario. He was unable to breathe on his own without the ventilator due to the damage in his chest and his punctured lungs. As well he was in an almost drug induced coma to lessen his movements to allow for healing.

After seeing some improvement and then some setbacks he ended up with a Tracheotomy to add more comfort and improve his chance of improved breathing exercises. However the attempts of increasing his breathing with the Tracheotomy was not successful. Due to the damage to his sternum the Doctors are now doing a Sternum plate to fuse the sternum together. With this type and nature of injury I need to go back to assist his family and him in his long recovery.
