On June 19th, 2017, we received Donna’s blood work showing that the Hep C virus had cleared from her body. The Hep C staff passed this information on to Donna on the same day that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. She had been helping a friend move and sustained a shoulder injury. When the injury did not improve, she went to Urgent Care. At Urgent Care, she received a lung x-ray which showed a shadow. Upon investigation, it was determined that she had cancer which had spread to her brain and other parts of her body. Due to the late stage of this cancer, there are no options for aggressive treatment aimed at cure. The doctors have told her that she has 1-2 “short” years to live.

It is very sad that Donna has had to transition from wanting to get home to Sarnia to see her father before he died to needing to get home to see her family before she dies. They have encouraged her to come and stay but Calgary is her home and she wishes to return. She is hoping for a 2 week visit with her family during the middle 2 weeks of October. Her sister would be able to pick her up in London or Toronto.
