It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to you in the hope that you will be able to assist me during this overwhelming and stressful time of my life.
In 2015, my family was devastated when my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. My mom has undergone major surgery where part of her lung was removed and she almost lost her life. After the surgery, six months of chemotherapy treatment was required. She spent most of this time in and out of the hospital and when was strong enough to go home; needed constant care. Unfortunately, the cancer came back after the treatment stopped and she had to start the chemotherapy treatment again. Her health started to deteriorate and other organs started to suffer the consequences of having only part of a lung. She is suffering from heart problems, diabetes, high blood pressure and other health issues; constant care and expensive medication are required.
I am originally from Brazil and have been living in Canada for the past eleven years. I have a full time job and searching for second one so I can help my family to pay for my mom’s medical expenses. My entire family lives in Brazil and have never had a chance to visit me in Canada due to financial situation, medical reasons and language barriers.
If it was not enough dealing with one case of cancer in my family sad news was delivered in April of 2018. My oldest sister was diagnosed with a lymphoma and is also receiving chemotherapy treatment. This added more stress on top of me as I am so far away from them; I feel useless.
I have been flying to Brazil once a year now to stay with my family; most of time I spend my vacation in the hospital with my mom. Luckily, I have an employer that is compassionate and supports me approving vacation time and leave of absence without pay in advance.
I am approaching you in hope you will assist me to purchase an airline ticket to fly to Brazil in December. I would love to spend Christmas with my family and I hope my mom and my sister are healthy enough to celebrate this special occasion with us.
