In September, 2018, my sister Lori was diagnosed with brain cancer. As we live in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) Lori was evacuated by air to Kelowna, BC. Several days later a large tumor was removed, and the smaller tumors were radiated. In spite of months of treatment Lori’s cancer continued to advance and she has been referred to Palliative Care. The cost of keeping Lori in Kelowna has drained family resources. We need her to come home. Our mother, Sally, is 87 yrs old has dementia/Alzheimer’s. Lori is the baby of the family and mom asks for her many times every day. Mom’s referral to long term care has come through and she leaves on Jan. 24th. Lori is the youngest of 6 children, 3 of my siblings have predeceased my mom already. They need to say goodbye.
