Hello, my sister Cynthia (Cindy) is in her last days of suffering from cancer. It was diagnosed as stage 4 lung cancer which has now invaded her spine and other organs. She has fought this monster with every fibre of her being for over 2 years. She recently finally acknowledged the need for hospice care, and is now staying at Chinook Hospice in Calgary. I am overwhelmed by the wonderful care my sister has been receiving there and by extension their supreme efforts to make her last wishes and mine come to fruition. Pain control is becoming the biggest issue and I really need to spend time while she is strong enough. I am overwhelmed with guilt, helplessness that I can’t afford to fly out from Vancouver again to see her at this point. Other than me, the only family Cindy has now is her daughter and husband. I am her only sibling (sister) left. She is my baby sister! So I am really hoping that one last visit is possible. She is struggling hard with the reality of death and with spiritual acceptance. I feel its so important and vital to comfort her emotionally, and hopefully spiritually too, as only a big sister can. I wish to express many thanks, and kudos to the attentive care the entire staff at Chinook Hospice has given to Cindy.
